Wearing Clip in Extensions with fine hair

As a fine-haired gal myself, I can understand that the thought of putting in clip in extensions can be daunting! You might think that hiding your extensions would be trickier in finer hair, or that the extensions might slip or pull on your natural hair, but that doesn’t have to be the case when installed correctly. With a few simple tricks you’ll be rocking gorgeous voluminous locks in no time.

The first thing to note is that if your hair is naturally on the finer side, you may not need to use all three pieces of hair in your set of Loxy’s Collection extensions. Many girls find that they can get away with either one or two pieces of their set for a more natural look.

Try clipping in one short weft a few centimetres above the nape of your neck, and then a long weft just above that. If that still looks like too much hair in comparison to your natural thickness, you could even just use a single long weft for some added volume on a day-to-day basis.

Another important point is that having your extensions “blended” or trimmed by a hairstylist who has experience working with hair extensions can make a huge difference to the way they blend with your hair! If you are mainly looking for volume, not length, you might even consider having your extensions trimmed to a similar length to your natural hair, for volume that is quick and easy to clip in for daily wear.

To help your extensions grip to your hair so that they don’t slip or pull, try gently back-combing your roots where you are going to apply the clips. You could also consider adding a product like Eleven I Want Volume Powder to add even more grip to your hair.  On a similar note, you might find that some gentle back-combing or volume powder on the roots of your natural hair helps to conceal the clip ins so they stay hidden.

The feeling of wearing extensions can take a bit of getting used to, but once you’ve got the hang of it I know you’ll love the volume you’re able to achieve! Shop our entire range of Loxy’s Collection clip in extensions here.
